This role is perfect for a detail-oriented tax professional who is eager to deepen their technical skills and enjoys digging in to understand the “why” behind our work. You are highly organized and can own multiple priorities without losing sight of the details. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are excited to be part of a growing team, but are also comfortable working independently. You view ambiguity as an opportunity, embracing new tools and approaches with a continuous improvement mindset. This role is a great fit for someone looking for broad exposure across the income tax function, from provisions to compliance to forecasting, in Rover’s dynamic, high-growth environment. This is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Downtown Seattle Office two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays. For this reason, candidates must be based in the Greater Seattle Area or willing to relocate.Your Responsibilities:Prepare the annual worldwide tax provision under ASC 740, including ETR, FIN48, current and deferred tax calculations, and tax account rollforwardPrepare month-end close entries for tax accruals and reservesCoordinate with external advisors on the preparation and review of Rover’s corporate and partnership income tax returnsMaintain tax due date calendarPrepare quarterly estimated tax payments and extension calculationsPrepare other quarterly and annual filings, including personal property, CAT, and Seattle JumpStart filingsMaintain and improve provision workflow in CorpTax ProvisionManage tracking and resolution of tax notices, and assist with tax audits and controversyMonitor tax legislation and communicate impact and potential action itemsSupport special tax projects, as neededYour Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or a Master’s degree in Tax4+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax department, including a minimum of two years of tax provision experienceStrong technical knowledge of corporate federal and state income tax, as well as accounting for income taxes under ASC 740Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time management skillsAdvanced Excel skills and proficiency in manipulating large data setsExcellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact directly and effectively with managers and cross-functional teamsProven ability to prioritize multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environmentYour Bonus Skills:Licensed CPAFamiliarity with U.S. international, partnership tax, and E&P conceptsExperience with Corptax Provision or other provision software toolExperience with Savant or other data automation toolBenefits of working for Rover:Competitive compensation401k matchLong-term incentive plan with a company performance-based cash payoutFlexible PTOCompetitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insuranceCommuter benefitsBring your dog to work (and unlimited puppy time)Pet benefits, including $1,000 toward bringing home a new dog or catStocked fridges, coffee, soda, and lots of treats (for humans and dogs) and free catered lunches semi-monthly Regular team activities performed in-person and virtuallyCompensation: In the greater Seattle area the first-year salary range is $91,485-117,902.
